Summer Coming to a Close

The summer season is officially at an end with the passing of Labor Day, but there is still a few months of fair weather days to look forward to; Fall colors, hiking in solitude and brisk, quiet nights by the campfire.

The first loop of the Grover campground (campsites 1 - 34) will remain open into October; how long into October depends on the weather.  There are no reservations this time of year and the camping fees are reduces to $25/night (normally $35).

The pool complex is closed for annual maintenance September 6th - 18th.  Those dates may change so call the park ahead of time to make sure the pool will be open(530) 694-2248, or the pool (530) 694-2249.  Otherwise the pool is open all year and closed on Wednesdays during the winter.  The pool fees are $10/adult, $5/child (16 & under).

Speaking of Fall colors - the Alpine Aspen Festival in Hope Valley is happening this year on October 8th & 9th.  There is a lot to see and do, and the Aspens should be in full colorful display at that time!  For more info go to www.AspenFest.org.

We want to thank everyone who visited us at our Visitor Center this summer, and for supporting us by making purchases at our gift shop, making a donation, or becoming a member.  We sincerely hope we were able to help you enjoy your experience at Grover, and come visit us again!

Summer Is Here!

Make plans to visit Grover this summer.  With the good snow pack we had this winter and some late snow storms, the rivers and creeks have been marvelous to behold.  The water flow is starting to slow down now, but we have the wild flowers to look forward to.

It has been a great spring to hike up to the waterfalls.  The Alpine Trails Association has been working on the Charity Valley and Burnside Lake trails.  Thanks to them and other volunteers those trails should be in much better shape this year.

Several visitors have commented on how peaceful it is in the campground.  This campground is truly a family friendly campground.  Campsites are well spaced, there are showers, campfire and Jr. Ranger Programs, and hiking trails to explore.  Being at the end of a dead-end road helps to keep traffic and noise down also.

While visiting, please stop by our visitor center and gift shop.  We are more than happy to help you with your hiking plans and other recreational activities in the area.  We have several new books and guides this year, along with other fun gift ideas.  Check out our new t-shirt designs.  We also have ice cream and fruit bars.  The Visitor center is located in the Picnic area and open daily 10am - 6pm.

Summer to Fall

The summer season is winding down and the season is sliding into Fall.  It is a great time to visit and enjoy the often pleasant, less crowded days.  Another bonus is the Fall colors, although the lack of moisture has weakened the colorful displays some, there is still plenty of yellow and orange color to be found.

The Grover Hot Spring campground is open into October.  The weather will dictate how late in October it will stay open.  There are no reservations after Labor Day, but you should not need them - especially during the week.  The camping fee is $25/night during the off season.

The pool complex is open every day except Wednesdays.  The hours are 10am - 7pm.  It is a good idea to call ahead of time to make sure the pool is open during the time you plan on visiting.

Happy Trails!
